Mobile apps for real estate broker

Nieruchomosci-online.pl is one of Poland’s main real estate brokers. The company has local offices with 12k+ agents. At the time, they were investing into refreshed website and completely new mobile experience. Together with Cocolab, we took the challenge to redesign the search feature and simplify the experience on mobile.

The result is a unique search experience where in a couple of taps user gets the filterd offers. Advanced search is available for more specific needs.

At the time, most of the real estate apps simply reshuffled the web search form fields to fit smaller screens.

Rarely further customisation was done. This resulted in mobile screens overloaded with unnecessary elements cluttering the interface and impacting user experience. Our goal was to craft a simple, dedicated solution for mobile users.

Many aspects of location are taken into consideration while searching. Having multiple channels such as agents, helpline, web, iPad and iPhone applications, we decided to focus on simple search “on the go” with the option to expand the search filters

I divided the search into a few steps:

  • Buy or rent

  • Type of real estate

  • City and optionally a district

  • See offers or add filters

  • Filter with amount and size (optional)

Users can choose to add detailed filters and select a district or range. Main filters are always visible, tapping it will open filter controls allowing the user to change the criteria. Different contract forms and location types are represented as icons. Price and size ranges are reflected in the respective icons.

Combined search results with the listing

On a tablet, we placed search results next to the offer details. This provided the connection between the two easing the entire experience. Users can change the search criteria and sort at all times.

We added an organiser feature with predefined labels and custom notes to keep all thoughts in one place. Users can contact agents servicing the listing by email or phone.

Ideation workshops and early designs where workout out with contribution of entire team

We had many workshops and joint sessions with all roles in one room in order to figure out the foundation of the experience. This allowed us to move fast and make a couple of iterations to simplify the experience.

I designed wireframes early on to lock on features and information architecture. Simple wireframes were ideal for early stage testing with users. With valuable feedback I refined the solution and was ready for high resolution mockups.

Helpful tools when finding new place

We combined many features that help save the place together with details regarding the listing. I listed a couple of features below to give a sense of the interactions.

User can browse history searches and save selected ones. Organiser helps with adding labels for quick marking the listing. User can also add notes to listings to better catch that thought.

I designed the new app icon which is the intersection of the letter “n“ and the city

I was inspired by the view of the city from above. With this idea in mind, I built a cartoonish city on the plan of the letter “n”. This symbol became an icon for the whole application. I wanted to make the application icon unique and memorable.

The outcome

We managed to deliver innovative solution in crowded marketplace. App had very good rating and valuable user feedback for multiple years.
